Methodology

Budget numbers are planning estimates only — not vendor quotes. Seating tools help you arrange guests; they are not a venue floor-plan CAD service or a wedding planner contract.

How SeatChartBase turns a guest list into tables and a dollar total into category caps. Defaults are editable starting points with an “as of” stamp on the budget side. Replace them when the venue diagram or real bids arrive.

Arrangement and budget math run in the browser (Web Worker when available). Update the default tables in src/lib/scb/; keep the formula code boring on purpose.

Seating

  • You supply guests (name, optional +1 / side / notes) and table sizes
  • Default round tables seat 8–10 people — editable per table
  • One person per seat unless you mark a +1 as their own row
  • Unassigned guests stay in a visible pool until you place them
  • Export CSV or print a chart / alphabetical find-your-seat list

Head table, sweetheart table, and kids tables are ordinary labeled tables — type the label you need. Ceremony pages use the same engine with ceremony framing; reception pages default to dinner tables. We do not simulate fire code, sightlines, pillars, or dance-floor clearance. Those live on the venue's diagram.

Guest list

The guest grid is a planning sheet: names, +1s, RSVP notes, tags. It is not an RSVP mailer and not a household CRM. Export CSV when you are ready to seat people or hand a list to someone else. Budget formula

  • category dollars = total × (percent ÷ 100)
  • Optional per-guest readout = total ÷ guest count when you enter a headcount
  • Percentages are editable; the sum does not have to stay at 100% — we show the sum so you can see drift
  • Current stamp: 2026-07

This is a US-style planning sketch for kitchen-table talks — not a claim about what “the average wedding” spends, and not a vendor quote. When the venue deposit and catering bid land, overwrite the percentages. Catering invoices still follow vendor line items, not our per-guest shortcut.

What we do not claim

  • No venue marketplace, planner matching, or lead forms
  • No fire-code, accessibility, or CAD floor-plan simulation
  • No RSVP email service or guest messaging
  • No national wedding-cost statistics product
  • No guarantee a chart or percentage split will satisfy your venue or family
